When you use Flowella with WhatsApp, you pay two separate costs. Discover Digital, the company behind Flowella, bills your Flowella subscription through Stripe. Meta charges its WhatsApp Business Platform fees directly, through your own WhatsApp Business or Meta Business account. This page explains how both work, what each plan includes, and answers common billing questions. For the latest prices, see the live Flowella pricing page.

How billing works

Think of the two costs this way:
  • Flowella subscription: the software licence and usage allowance. It covers access to the Flowella platform, the HubSpot integration, dashboards, and usage up to your plan’s limits.
  • Meta (WhatsApp) fees: network fees for delivering messages. You pay them through your own WhatsApp Business or Meta Business account, and Meta charges them separately.
Flowella does not mark up or resell Meta fees. You pay Meta directly and remain responsible for those costs.

Free trial

Flowella sets up a 14-day free trial automatically when you create your organisation. During the trial:
  • You can send up to 5,000 billable messages in total. The trial has no overage.
  • A banner at the top of the app shows how many days are left, with an Upgrade now link. Settings → Billing shows the date the trial ends.
  • Templates you edit in the template editor get a fixed footer: “Reply STOP to opt out. Powered by Flowella.io”. You can change the footer after you upgrade. Messages that are not templates, such as inbox replies, do not get this footer.
  • Flowella sends usage alerts at 50%, 80% and 100% of the 5,000-message cap. See Usage alerts.
When you reach 5,000 billable messages, or when the 14 days end, Flowella blocks sends until you upgrade to Starter or Pro. This includes replies to customers from the Flowella inbox. Flowella shows Message limit reached or Subscription required, with a View plans & usage button. Incoming messages still arrive, and your configuration, templates and Flows are kept. See When sending is blocked for exactly what stops.
When the trial ends without an upgrade, your organisation moves to the Free plan. If you need more time to evaluate, contact the team to ask about a trial extension.
Upgrading during the trial ends the trial straight away and switches you to your chosen plan’s allowance. Messages already sent during the trial do not count against your new plan’s allowance.

What counts as a message

Flowella measures usage in billable WhatsApp messages: messages that WhatsApp marks as chargeable. Each one is one unit, whether it is a template, a Flow or a reply. A 24-hour window is not a unit, and a Flow counts once however many screens it has. Messages your customers send to you are never counted. From 1 October 2026 WhatsApp charges for replies inside the 24-hour customer service window once your phone number has used its 1,000 free service messages for the month. Charged replies count towards your Flowella allowance. Messages WhatsApp does not charge for are not counted, such as replies within that free tier and messages in a free entry point window after a Click to WhatsApp ad. See Pricing and categories.

Included usage and overage

Starter and Pro include a set number of billable messages per month. If you go over your allowance:
  • Flowella keeps sending. Starter and Pro have no hard stop.
  • Additional usage is billed as overage at your plan’s per-message rate ($0.05 on Starter, $0.04 on Pro), at the end of your billing cycle.
Usage is subject to a fair use policy. Extremely high volumes or behaviour that resembles spam may trigger a review, a request to move to a higher tier or, in extreme cases, rate limiting or suspension. If you are planning a large campaign, contact the Flowella team in advance so you are on the right plan. To see how much of your allowance you have used, go to Settings → Usage.

Monthly or yearly billing

Starter and Pro are available with monthly or yearly billing. Choose the interval with the Monthly and Yearly buttons above the plan cards in Settings → Billing. The cards show the Stripe price for the interval you pick. See Billing.

Trials, renewals and cancellations

  • Free trial starts when you create your organisation and lasts 14 days. Sending stops when the trial ends, or earlier if you reach 5,000 billable messages. Upgrade to a paid plan to keep sending.
  • Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, and renew automatically until you cancel.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep full access until then, and the plan doesn’t renew. Any overage from that last period is still billed when it ends. Settings → Billing shows a Cancels badge with the date.
Stripe processes Flowella payments. Your card details stay with Stripe and are not stored in Flowella.

Meta (WhatsApp) fees

Flowella subscription fees do not include WhatsApp message delivery costs. Meta charges those for use of the WhatsApp Business Platform. Meta has charged per message since 1 July 2025, with rates depending on the message category (marketing, utility, authentication, service) and the recipient’s country. Always check your own rate card for current rates. Key points about Meta fees:
  • Rates vary by country or region and message category.
  • Marketing and authentication templates are chargeable inside and outside the 24-hour customer service window, and utility templates are chargeable outside it. From 1 October 2026 Meta also charges for replies and utility templates inside the window. Each phone number gets 1,000 free service messages a month, and Flowella does not count those free replies.
  • Every message in a free entry point window stays free. The window opens when you reply within 24 hours to someone who messaged you from a Click to WhatsApp ad, and lasts up to 7 days.
  • Meta bills these fees via your WhatsApp Business account or through your Business Solution Provider.
To see your Meta charges, go to Meta Business Manager → WhatsApp Manager → Billing. There you can view your rate card for different countries and categories, billing invoices, and spending caps.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, on monthly billing. Your allowance resets at the start of each billing period, which follows the date you subscribed rather than the 1st of the month. During the free trial, the 5,000-message cap covers the whole 14 days.
Yes. Select Change plan in Settings → Billing to open the Stripe customer portal, and switch plans there.
On Starter and Pro, Flowella keeps sending. Additional billable messages are charged as overage at your plan’s per-message rate, at the end of your billing cycle. If you expect high volumes, contact the team to move to a higher tier in advance. The free trial has no overage: sending stops at 5,000 billable messages.
Meta bills WhatsApp fees separately through your WhatsApp Business account. To view invoices and your rate card, go to Meta Business Manager → WhatsApp Manager → Billing. Flowella has no visibility into or control over those charges. To add or change the card Meta charges, see Meta payment method.
